'Raleigh Action Bikes' catalogue 1982
The ’82 Brochure is a landmark
document; not only because it introduces the Burner range, but also because of
the use of language employed by the staid British marketing arm of Raleigh.
Notice how the descriptions within this catalogue are injected with colourful
metaphors as had already been the norm in the US Raleigh / Rampar BMX Brochures
from the late 70s onwards.
Look out for snazzy gumwalls and python grips as you burn off the opposition,
(unfortunately “sano” as an adjective does not feature)!
Another interesting note is that in the ’82 brochure the Superburner is one-word
whilst the prototype Tuff Burner was a very British “Tough” Burner..!
