"This Mk I Super Burner frame was bought from eBay prior to my Extra Burner
resto' being completed. I was planning a pure reproduction of the Red
Burner from the '83 Brochure but Julian beat me to it (and his resto' was
breathtaking) so I decided upon a custom with black Tuff IIs!
After the first Burner Bash (Apr-05), Harry (my lad) put his name on this bike
and started turning the screws for the bike to be competed. The pile of
old Mk I components were duly shipped to Bob Jackson's for restoration -
meanwhile I continued to accumulate parts for other Burner resto's.
By the time the frame and forks returned from West Yorkshire, Harry had been
exposed to the programme "Pimp My Ride" on MTV! Needless to say, an entry
level red Burner (even with Skyways) was not going to suffice - we had to pimp
his Burner. My collection of parts were raided and the cr-mo forks and
bars that had been intended for use on a Mk I Cromo were passed over to Harry.
His original red MX saddle was ditched in favour of a Kashimax Aero, NOS Skyway
stunt pegs from p.q., NOS rat traps from retrogeezer and brakesets procured by
Julian completed the build.
I made a half-cocked job of assembling the bike but as readers of the Burner
Forum will know - things mechanical are not my strong suit. During the
trip to Wales where we collected Juliette's Mini Burners, Julian gave Harry's
bike a full healthcheck and it now running "sweet as a nut". Harry is
chuffed to bits, but after seeing Julian's amazing collection he has now set his
sights on a Mk II Tange Aero Pro as his second bike..."
