"Chopsticks shipped this bike from the US, (where it had remained in the box
since leaving the factory). It was only unpacked to be exhibited at the
Burner Bash (Apr-05), where it was undoubtedly one of the celebrity exhibits
amongst a number of gorgeous bikes (it was love at first sight for me when I
clapped eyes on it)!
How often do you come across a US Raleigh R10? Let alone a New Old Stock (NOS)
example with NOS alloy hub Skyway Tuff IIs (with reflectors intact!!!) and Skyway
yellow brake pads? Not
every day that's for sure - so it was a relatively easy decision to click the
"Buy it Now" button when this beauty came up for sale on eBay!
The frame and forks are metallic Blaze Blue and the bars, stem, crank and post
are all anodised gold which in my opinion is more aesthetically pleasing that
the model featured in the '79 brochure.
I have tried it (once around the lawn) and it is very comfortable to ride due to
the reclined seat tube and extended top tube (as compared with a Mk I Burner),
but as for now this bike is in safe storage pending display at the next Raleigh
Burner get together..."
